Welcome to GA-HITREC

The Georgia Health IT Regional Extension Center (GA-HITREC) part of the National Center for Primary Care at Morehouse School of Medicine, is Georgia’s trusted resource for innovative health IT practice solutions. Through our cost-effective consultation and practice solutions, we enable providers to not only adopt and meaningfully use electronic health records in the most effective and efficient way possible, but to improve clinical outcomes, quality of care and maximize the return for the practice.

Originally founded as one of 60 centers nationwide that received federal stimulus funds to help physicians adopt electronic health records in their practice, our vision and expertise quickly extended beyond that.

Through our team of trusted team of health IT practice experts and service professionals, we:

  • Assist physicians in selecting, successfully implementing and achieving meaningful use of their electronic health records
  • Provide expert advice and comprehensive practice assessments that result in identification of best practice solutions and processes for:
    • Privacy and Security
    • ICD10 Compliance and Remediation
    • Paper Document Management conversion
    • Incentive Reimbursement Services
    • Telecom and Data Center Solutions
    • Technical and IT Support

Provide education and training courses related to physician practice education, health information technology, continuing medical education and quality.

In addition, through our affiliation with valued partners and vendors, we offer group purchasing services to you. Our extensive vetting and qualifying process does the leg work for you, indentifying and negotiating best prices that enable you to improve the efficiency, quality and value of the healthcare services you provide.

We are a physician resource and an advocate for you.

The federal government has made reimbursement changes to Medicare and Medicaid which require providers to implement electronic health record technology and demonstrate its effective use by the year 2015. There are incentives for achieving this milestone. For those providers who do not meet this timetable, there will be a reduction in reimbursement every year after 2015.

The GA-HITREC can help.
